- くまがわ【球磨川】熊本県南部を流れる川。 九州山地の石楠(シヤクナン)越・水上(ミズカミ)越付近に源を発し， 南西に流れ， 八代(ヤツシロ)市で八代海に注ぐ。 長さ115キロメートル。 日本三大急流の一つで， 球磨川下りは有名。 木棉(ユウバ)川。
